What is the Springfield Community Land Trust?

The Springfield Community Land Trust (SCLT) is a local non-profit organization that provides permanently affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families in Springfield, Missouri. 

We walk you through the process from application to closing as you purchase your first home.

How does the Springfield Community Land Trust work?

New Construction

All new builds are Energy Star construction. To ensure equal access for all ages and abilities, universal design principles are incorporated. Our newest projects also include fire suppression systems.

Renovations

The SCLT works in Center City Springfield where the oldest housing (hit hardest by the 2008 recession) is located. Each home in the SCLT program goes through a major rehab to ensure everything is up to code prior to being sold to a family, which may include: 

  • Additional insulation
  • New windows
  • Siding
  • Updated electrical and plumbing 
  • Evaluate roof and HVAC systems to avoid additional burden to new homeowners
