The Springfield Community Land Trust is looking for a permanent executive director!
Job Summary: The Springfield Community Land Trust Executive Director (ED) serves as the strategic leader of the organization and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Springfield Community Land Trust (SCLT). The ED reports to the SCLT Board of Directors but may have certain duties in relation to Community Partnership of the Ozarks (CPO). The ED fulfills both programmatic and fundraising roles to support the long-term health of SCLT.
Position Requirements:
- Results-oriented, strong ability to quickly deliver quality outcomes
- Fundraising competency: ability to be an effective evangelist for SCLT and its mission, raise funds from a variety of sources, and engage with key community stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, human services, community development, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of three years’ prior professional work experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Missouri driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift, push and pull 35 lbs.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to meet deadlines, work both independently and within a team, and collaborate with other agencies
- Ability to work with people from all socio-economic levels and backgrounds
- Knowledge of housing, mortgage, and real estate practices/processes
- Commitment to increase safe, decent, affordable housing in the Springfield community
- Knowledge of grant-writing process
Reporting Structure: The Springfield Community Land Trust Director reports to the SCLT Board of Directors. However, SCLT contracts with CPO for various administrative functions. The ED will be expected to work within that structure, which may include certain reporting requirements to CPO and participation in CPO training and reviews.
Position Clarification: The position of Springfield Community Land Trust Director is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. This is an exempt, full-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position.
CPO receives federal grants and contracts which, in turn, are used to support the Springfield Community Land Trust, therefore CPO must comply with the Drug Free Workforce Act of 1988. Marijana is considered an illegal substance under federal law, with no exception for medicinal use and is not protected under the ADA.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and regularly update SCLT Marketing Plan and related documents (brochures, flyers, etc.)
- Coordinate fundraising activities for SCLT
- Apply for grants
- Present regularly to key community stakeholders to fundraise
- Work with community banking partners to help fulfill Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements
- Administer the home buying process from start to finish
- Facilitate homebuyer education program
- Working with new applicants to the SCLT program and helping them navigate the process
- Working with our funding partners and financial institutions
- Utilizing funding sources such as Down Payment Assistance to facilitate home purchases
- Coordinating closings of home purchases
- Develop and formalize banking partnerships
- Perform periodic goal setting/benchmarking to ensure SCLT is executing the board’s vision
- Maintaining existing housing stock in SCLT portfolio
- Overseeing property management company
- Working with realtors to list and market houses
- Overseeing maintenance for rentals
- Review and revise homebuyer selection procedures and homebuyer SCLT orientation curriculum
- Periodically review and revise SCLT Board Policy Documents
- Complete all tasks necessary to continue business operations of the SCLT
- Maintain SCLT website
- Other duties as assigned
