Meet LeeAnn Camey, Director

LeeAnn loves the Springfield community — she’s grown up in the community and finds her roots here. She graduated from Parkview High School and discovered what diversity really meant during her service with the Marine Corps. LeeAnn studied Housing & Interior Design at (now) Missouri State University and worked in design for nine years. In 1999, she moved to the nonprofit sector, serving as a Caring Communities Site Coordinator for Community Partnership of the Ozarks. She continues there today, helping build resilient children, healthy families, and strong neighborhoods and communities as the Springfield Community Land Trust director. 

Why do you enjoy working with the Springfield Community Land Trust?

We all know homeownership is a really good way to build wealth. But a lot of the families I’ve worked with over the last 25 years lack the freedom to leverage homeownership on their road to financial security.

The Springfield Community Land Trust gives families the opportunity to build stability and wealth while owning the largest asset they’ll likely ever have — a home of their own.

Working with the SCLT also gives me the chance to help older neighborhoods in our community thrive and be successful. We’re strategically planted in the neighborhoods affected the most by the Great Recession of 2008. These places experienced the highest rates of foreclosures, which brought down the value of the homes in the area. By purchasing and rehabbing the homes to be energy-efficient, safe, and affordable, the SCLT is helping to raise the home values — and the hopes — of our neighbors.

When I’m not helping families find their better future, I’m exploring the Ozarks, either floating down a river, camping, or hiking. Springfield is a beautiful area with a lot to offer its residents!
